This week we are still discussing service, specifically “Pure Religion,” loosely defined as acts of kindness to others. Today was fast sunday. It was a good one—few really rambling testimonies. I stood and said a few words. I mentioned that it could be difficult to be a ward music leader, because the main topics don’t always match up with possible hymns. For example, next month we’ll have a Sunday where the topic deals with journals. These are the Sundays where a ward music leader needs some spiritual help, and a hefty does of creativity. I also said that one of the best parts of being a music leader is reading the lyrics when they deal with Christ.

This month the overall theme is “Every Soul has great worth: Showing God’s love through Service to others.”
